Best food itinerary of Lisbon - Portugal (You will not regret)
1. Confeitaria Nacional:
This place has been open since the early 1800s and it’s a fantastic place to start your day – a bica (espresso) and a delicious sugar coated pastries surrounded by gorgeous turn-of-the-century decor.
2. Ginjinha Sem Rival:
I love this tiny little shop where you can get a bottle of Portugal’s famous cherry liqueur ( Locals call it medicine which heals everything) but it’s definately Alchohol. Ginja is made by mixing the slightly sour Ginja cherry with brandy (firewater) and sugar. This mix becomes a strong sweet liqueur which makes it perfect as an aperitif. This tiny shot is will make your throught warm. In my experience i thought it was similar like a shot of Brandy. Though you will spot many small bars selling Ginjinha but this place has been going since 1890! If you like it, You can also buy the Ginjinha bottle from airport.
3. O Trevo:
In your Lisbon food itinerary this stop is must ! You have to try a very famous local bifana sandwich of O’Trevo when you’re in Lisbon. It’s simple, but delicious – stewed pork, and then you douse it in piri piri sauce and yellow mustard. And this was the place Anthony Bourdain ( American Celibrity chef) visited! you can also try cod croquettes in this place. This place is just perfect for your morning or mid evening snack.
If you living close to Rossio train station, you can also have delicious
bifana in Beira Gare.
4. Timeout Market:
After a big day of sight seeing Belem tower and monastery, you only wish fro yum food. while going back to the centre, on your way you will spot this amazing timeout market. Timeout market, where you can find the best of Lisbon under one roof. As you enter the market, their are many thing to jump on, but i would recommend to hold your tummy horses and go to this Local restaurant called “Azul”. It is in the interior side of the market selling some mouthwatering sea food.
A must try is there local grilled fish, octopus and tiger prawns in garlic sauce.

5. Bonjardim:
And they Portuguese love spicy chicken. Piri piri chicken is a very famous and loved dishes, and if you’re going to get it in Lisbon (you should), this is the place! The chicken was so deliciously juicy and tender, and the skin fabulously spiced by peri peri sauce/oil.
A must must dish to try when in Portugal. (Personally my fav)( Loves spicy food)
6. Trobadores:
This place is straight out of Game of Thrones. In spite of being on a touristic areas, this bar is placed in a very secondary street, escaping the tourists attention. A very alluring mixture between Medieval Tavern, Folk Fado Music and Portuguese traditional food, Trobadores seemingly a little tacky, but it’s actually local’s fav spot. Friday- Sat evening is all about to good fado music and having fire grill sausage. You can drink mead (fermneted honey) and grill chorizo sausage right at your table!
7. O Gaiteiro:
I love a good old school restaurant. And in Lisbon these tascas the best spots to order grilled fish: sardines, salt-cold and octopus. O Gaiteiro is a place we visit on Devour’s Lisbon food tour and it’s fantastic – great food, full of local clients.
8. Manteigaria:
Custard tarts are everywhere in Lisbon, but not all custard tarts are created equal. These ones from Manteigaria have a wonderfully crispy and flaky pastry, and custard is like delicious molten lava. A plus, you can watch them making them through the glass window. you can find many branches of Manteigaria, also one in Timeout market.
9. Pastel de belem:
After trying 8 different Pastal de Nata, this places takes my heart. yes ! undoubtedly they make the best pastel de Nata in Lisbon. The crunchiness of the cover and the right proportion of sweet pudding inside will win your heart and you want to have more and more ! though this place is quite far from centre and close to Jeronimos monastery it’s worth every penny. ohh if you talk about penny, this is just 1Euro pastery in Pastel de Belem ( cheapest of all). This place is open since 1837 till now. The first ever to claim about egg tart recipe in Portugal. if you in Lisbon you cannot miss this place. go for your perfect morning breakfast.
If you wanna buy some chocolate, tea or coffee or Portwines, Casa Pereira is your place. I love how this old shop smells like chocolate and the walls are lined with incredible bottles of port. So if you want to grab a bottle of port while in the city.
Trust me you will not regret any of your experiences in these places.
let me know in the comment which dish you liked the most.
